Bittersweet Goodbyes

Although we were really excited for our new journey, it was really hard to say goodbye to our family and friends. We have some amazing friends in Sacramento that helped us move all of our furniture and boxes into our moving truck. It was a lot of work and we couldn't have done it without them. Our friends from church: Ricky & Liz, John & Siobhan, Jen & Zach (and their baby Elijah) all came out to help us. Once we were finished, we all went out for pizza! My friend, Jeni, joined us for pizza. It was nice to spend our last evening with such great friends!!

After a sad farewell, Anthony and I headed back to our apartment to get the last of our things and to finish cleaning. It was sad to see it empty. It was our first place we lived in after we got married, so it felt like the end of our 1st phase as husband and wife.
The next morning, we drove to Vancouver for the week before flying to Australia. We had a great time visiting with our family and friends there.

The week went by way too fast though! On our last night, our Moms arranged a goodbye party for us. It was really great! About 30 people came for dinner and cake. We are really lucky to have so many people that care about us!

Sunday was a very emotional and hard day. It's always hard to say goodbye.

My family came to the airport with us and there were definitely a lot of tears when we had to leave. Before the official goodbye, we did manage to take a few cute pictures.

Then, we were off! Our crazy adventure has officially begun!

Hi Kristi! It was so very nice to hear from you! I loved looking at all the pictures....sounds like you all make some awesome friends while you were there. What an exciting yet sentimental time in your lives...I am sure it was hard to leave those so dear to you...The empty apartment made me sad! I hope that you all have a blast living in Australia...can't wait to see pictures! Love ya lots!
